RCB in the top ten academic institutes in India for Biological Sciences research (Nature Index 2025)

We’re thrilled to announce that the Regional Centre for Biotechnology has been ranked among the top 10 academic institutions in India for Biological Sciences research, according to the Nature Index 2025. A heartfelt thank you to the entire RCB family and our collaborators—this achievement wouldn’t be possible without you!

Structural insights into pilus shaft formation & anchoring from vancomycin resistant enterococci

Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) have emerged as a significant public health issue due to their ability to cause various nosocomial infections, including catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). VRE employs endocarditis and biofilm-associated pili (Ebp) for adherence, which constitutes the initial step in biofilm formation.

Development of FMN riboswitches for synthetic ligands

The field of synthetic biology has fundamentally changed the development of microbial cell factories, enabling the efficient biomanufacturing of high-value chemicals and materials from sustainable feedstocks. The engineering of these bio-factories depends on the capacity to precisely govern the expression levels of numerous genes, which in turn facilitates the programming of cellular functions to achieve desired outcomes.
