Invasive Candida infections remain a serious healthcare concern, with Candida glabrata emerging as a significant cause of mucosal and systemic infections. Unlike C. albicans, C. glabrata does not form true hyphae and relies on robust stress adaptation mechanisms for survival and virulence. It is notably resistant to antifungals and thrives within macrophages despite oxidative stress and amino acid starvation.
